In every civic movement, there comes a moment when the debate no longer takes place only between the protesters and the authorities, but also within the protest itself. This is exactly what seems to be happening in recent days with the figure of Gent Progni, one of the most publicly exposed figures in the protests now known as the "Flamingo Revolution".
For more than two weeks, Progni has appeared almost daily at the center of the logistical organization of the protest, managing the sound, coordinating speeches and playing a prominent role in the public communication of the rallies. To his supporters, he is an activist who has helped organize and run the protests. To critics, however, he is trying to monopolize the voice of citizens and become the main protagonist of a movement that, since its inception, has been presented as leaderless and without dominant figures.
The debate erupted with new intensity on Sunday evening, during the marathon march that lasted for several hours on the outskirts of Tirana. According to many participants, part of the crowd headed towards the Tirana-Durres axis and then towards Rinas, creating confusion, uncertainty and tension over the direction the protest should take.
Social media has been flooded with reactions from people who claim to have been part of the march. Many of them accuse Prognin of having directly influenced the orientation of the protesters towards the highway and of subsequently distancing himself from the developments that followed. Others claim that the decision created disunity, physical fatigue and a loss of focus of the protest, taking it away from the initial civic message.
One marcher described the situation as a "mid-road abandonment," claiming that protesters marched for miles without a clear plan and were then left to deal with the consequences of decisions made by a small group of individuals. Similar accusations have been repeated in dozens of comments and live streams, with many protesters expressing dissatisfaction with the way the march was managed.

A few minutes after the crowd was confronted by the police, Progni posted a video on social media presenting his version of events. In his statement, he claims that at one point the leadership of the protesters was taken from him by another person, whom he considers an infiltrator, and that he had repeatedly called on citizens to turn back and not continue towards the clash. However, this version has been disputed by some of the protesters present, who claim that the events occurred differently than described in the video he posted.

Ai ka mohuar gjithashtu pretendimet për ndikime të jashtme apo financime të fshehta, duke insistuar se organizimi mbështetet nga kontributet e vetë qytetarëve.
Një tjetër element që ka ngjallur diskutime mes pjesëmarrësve lidhet me personat që ndodheshin në krye të grupit që u drejtua drejt Rinasit. Sipas protestuesve të pranishëm, mes tyre janë identifikuar edhe përfaqësues dhe aktivistë të FRPD Durrës. Po ashtu, një pjesë e marshuesve kanë shprehur rezerva për gjuhën dhe retorikën e përdorur nga grupi që mori drejtimin e turmës në ato momente, duke argumentuar se ajo nuk përputhej me frymën qytetare dhe mesazhin paqësor që kishte karakterizuar protestën gjatë ditëve të mëparshme.
Nuk kaloi shumë dhe episodi i Rinasit u përdor politikisht nga kryeministri, i cili e mori si argument për të sulmuar protestën, duke zhvendosur debatin publik nga kërkesat e qytetarëve te ngjarjet e krijuara gjatë marshimit drejt aeroportit.
Por polemikat që e shoqërojnë nuk lidhen vetëm me ngjarjet e mbrëmjes së fundit. Emri i Prognit është përmendur ndër vite në debate të ndryshme politike dhe aktiviste. Kritikët e tij rikthejnë vazhdimisht akuza të vjetra lidhur me rolin e tij në protesta të mëparshme, përfshirë edhe protestën studentore, ku një pjesë e aktivistëve e kanë konsideruar figurë përçarëse. Këto akuza mbeten pjesë e debatit publik dhe nuk janë provuar nga ndonjë proces zyrtar.
Ajo që vihet re është se figura e Prognit po bëhet gjithnjë e më shumë subjekt diskutimi sesa vetë kauza e protestës. Në vend që debati publik të fokusohet te kërkesat e qytetarëve, vëmendja është zhvendosur drejt pyetjes se kush po e kontrollon mikrofonin, kush merr vendimet dhe kush flet në emër të protestuesve.
Për shumë pjesëmarrës, rreziku më i madh nuk është përplasja me pushtetin, por mundësia që lëvizja të humbasë karakterin e saj qytetar për shkak të konflikteve të brendshme. Pikërisht për këtë arsye po shtohen zërat që kërkojnë që organizimi, fonia dhe vendimmarrja të rikthehen në duart e vetë protestuesve dhe të mos identifikohen me individë të veçantë.
Në fund, pyetja që po qarkullon gjithnjë e më shpesh mes protestuesve mbetet e njëjta: a është Gent Progni thjesht një aktivist që ka marrë më shumë vëmendje sesa duhet, apo figura e tij po kthehet në faktor përçarës brenda një lëvizjeje që pretendon të përfaqësojë të gjithë qytetarët?
Përgjigjen, si gjithmonë në një protestë qytetare, pritet ta japë vetë turma.
