US President Donald Trump stated that Russia and Ukraine want peace and called on them to sit at the negotiating table to end the war.

Trump took the opportunity in front of the world's cameras in the White House Cabinet Room to talk about the war in Ukraine.

"We've been waiting for a long time, they need to sit at the table, and I think peace will be achieved ," he said.

Asked about a timeline for reaching a deal, Trump added that he has his own timeline.

"I'm saying we can save thousands of people, and I don't like that it's taking so long. But I think both sides want to make peace. I believe that, even though there's a lot of hatred," the 78-year-old declared.

The American leader today criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin after the powerful attacks in Kiev, Ukraine, which left at least 12 people dead. Russia began its invasion of the Ukrainian state on February 24, 2022, causing thousands of casualties and extensive material damage.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in an interview with CBS News to be broadcast on the American television network the day after tomorrow, expressed hope that the American and Russian governments are moving in the "right direction" to end the war in Ukraine. The minister further emphasized that there are specific elements of the agreement that remain to be clarified in order to reach an agreement.

Responding to the barrage of Russian attacks on Kiev in the early hours of Thursday, which killed at least 12 people and injured dozens, Lavrov replied that they only target military targets or civilian facilities used by the Ukrainian military.
