Peace negotiations, Kremlin: Ukraine has not responded to Putin's offers to start talks

The Kremlin said today that Ukraine has not responded to Russian President Vladimir Putin's offers to start direct peace negotiations.

Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that starting talks with Kiev was Moscow's main focus.

"It was President Putin who repeatedly said that Russia is ready, without any preconditions, to start the negotiation process," Peskov said.

"So far we have not heard any response from the Kiev regime," he said.

Recently, Putin announced a short-term ceasefire on the occasion of the celebrations for the victory in World War II, while Ukrainian President Volodymyyr Zelensky said that this is another manipulation by Moscow and that there is no reason for the cessation of fighting to occur earlier.
