Dramatic footage from Turkey: Students jump from school windows, parents run to

Four people have been killed and twenty others injured in a shooting at a school in the Turkish city of Kahramanmaraş. Three of the victims are students and one is a teacher.

The perpetrator, an eighth-grade student, was also a victim, but it is not clear whether he committed suicide or was killed during the chaos, while the media in Turkey does not report whether he is included in the death toll.

"Unfortunately, 4 people have died. One of them was a teacher and three were students. There are also 20 injured. Four of them are currently undergoing surgery. Our work continues. We hope that our injured brothers and sisters will recover," said Kahramanmaraş Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer.

Previously, Turkish media "Haber Turk" reported that the perpetrator who entered the high school and opened fire with a gun was an 8th grade student. His father is a former police officer and it is suspected that he took his father's weapons.

The teenager entered two classrooms and opened fire without warning, while 5 guns and 7 magazines were found at the scene.

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu and National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin left for Kahramanmaraş following the tragic incident. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek said an investigation was immediately launched by the Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

"Three deputy public prosecutors and four chief prosecutors have been appointed. A publication ban has been imposed," he said.

The Minister of Interior, Mustafa Çiftçi, has also appointed 4 Chief Inspectors of Civil Administration and 4 Chief Inspectors of Police to investigate the attack on the school in Kahramanmaraş.

The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) issued a warning to broadcasting organizations regarding the armed attack at Ayser Çalık High School in Kahramanmaraş, demanding that broadcasting principles be strictly observed.
