Rumored to be the next leader of Iran, Israeli media: Ayatollah Khamenei's son injured after recent attacks

Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Iran's late supreme leader and widely reported as one of the leading candidates to succeed him, survived a recent attack by Israeli forces.
According to Israeli media, the attack came as uncertainty continues over the succession process following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the opening attack of Operation "Roaring Lion."
Earlier on Sunday, Hossein Mozafari, a member of Iran's Assembly of Experts, said the body is expected to meet within the next 24 hours to elect the country's next supreme leader.
The statement contradicts previous reports cited in Israel and by the opposition-linked broadcaster Iran International, which said the 88-member clerical body had already chosen Mojtaba Khamenei as his father's successor.
Despite reports, Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared publicly or issued any statements since the start of the war, and Iran's clerical leadership has not officially announced a successor.
According to reports, several members of Mojtaba Khamenei's immediate family - including his father, mother, wife and son - were killed in the first attack on the supreme leader's compound in Tehran.
His survival comes amid speculation that Israel may try to target him as well.
US President Donald Trump has also warned that the election of Khamenei's son as supreme leader would be unacceptable, saying such a move would represent a continuation of his father's harsh policies.
The Assembly of Experts, an 88-member clerical council, is responsible under Iran's constitution for appointing the supreme leader when the position becomes vacant. The leader holds ultimate authority over the country's military, security services and major state policies.
