Four police cars collide in the United Kingdom, seven officers injured

A road accident has occurred on the A1 motorway near Newcastle, UK. British media report that at least four police cars and two civilian vehicles, a BMW and a Volvo, were involved in the accident.
As a result, seven officers were urgently sent to the hospital.
According to the North East Ambulance Service, five ambulance crews, a specialist doctor, a duty officer, two Hazardous Area Response Teams (HART) as well as support from the Great Northern Air Ambulance Service were sent to the scene.
Footage from the scene shows extensive damage to one of the police cars, which has lost its top and three doors, while others have broken windows and parts scattered across all three lanes of the road.
One of the civilian vehicles has been completely overturned, while the A1 motorway is closed in both directions between junctions 73 and 75 and is expected to remain so until the afternoon hours due to the complex investigations being carried out by Northumbria Police.
