Protests escalate in Athens, stones and Molotov cocktails thrown at parliament building

The center of Athens has turned into a "battlefield" after several people threw Molotov cocktails and stones in front of the Greek parliament in Syntagma Square, where a rally is taking place for the 2nd anniversary of the tragedy in Tempi.

According to Greek media, these individuals, masked with hoods, attempted to enter the building. According to ERT, one person was injured and transported to the hospital.

In addition to the protests, strikes have also been organized across Greece. According to the Tempi 2023 association, 262 rallies and protests have been organized across the country and beyond.

We recall that the tragedy of two years ago killed 57 people, mostly students. 7 of the victims were Albanian citizens. On February 28, 2023, a passenger train that had departed from Athens and a freight train that had departed from Thessaloniki collided head-on near the city of Larisa.
