Poland wants French nuclear weapons on its territory

"The French nuclear arsenal can really help defend Poland," Polish President Andrzej Duda said in a statement.
As Politico writes, Duda, who has previously called for Poland to host some of the US nuclear weapons on its soil to deter Russian aggression, said the French warheads could also strengthen Polish defenses.
"I believe we can accept both solutions," the president said.
French President Emmanuel Macron has proposed extending the so-called French nuclear umbrella to European allies, amid fears that Russia could one day target another European state.
With around 300 nuclear warheads, France is the only EU member to possess such weapons and one of three NATO members, along with the US and the UK.
Poland and Denmark have previously expressed openness to the idea of being under French nuclear protection.
In March, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Poland was "seriously discussing" the possibility with France, which has gained momentum following warnings from the US that Donald Trump's White House may not guarantee Europe's security in the future.
