Protests in Serbia/ Students block public TV: It serves Vučić's regime

Belgrade University students have blocked the building of the Radio Television of Serbia for the eighth consecutive day, claiming that this media outlet is not reporting objectively on their protests.
Students demand that a new competition be announced for members of the Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media.
Meanwhile, RTS has announced that, due to “difficult working conditions”, it is forced to change its program schedules, and that it has filed a criminal complaint with the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade against unknown persons. RTS has requested a reaction from international institutions.
The High Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade has informed the public that, "in the event of any criminal offense, the perpetrators will be identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law."
Students have been standing in front of RTS non-stop throughout the four days of the Easter holiday. They have been joined there by students from other cities in Serbia. Students from Novi Pazar, a city in Serbia with a Bosniak majority, have particularly attracted attention.
Since November last year, students at state universities in Serbia have blocked dozens of faculties and organized continuous protests, demanding accountability and prosecution in connection with the collapse of a shelter at the Novi Sad railway station, which resulted in the deaths of 16 people.
The European Union, meanwhile, has announced that it is aware of the blocking of RTS and that it is closely following the internal political situation in Serbia. The EU has called for the rule of law and strong, accountable and democratic institutions.
