Jimmy Kimmel reacts for the first time after the scandal with the joke about Melania Trump

During his show on Monday, April 27, Jimmy Kimmel reacted for the first time to the controversy surrounding a joke he had made about First Lady Melania Trump.
The “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host clarified that his comment, which aired on April 23, was a “light joke” and was not intended to incite hatred or violence, as some White House officials and Melania Trump herself have interpreted it to be. However, he stressed that he did not apologize for the joke itself.
Kimmel focused more on the incident that occurred during the White House Correspondents' Dinner, where a shooting incident caused tension and fear among attendees. He expressed regret for the situation, saying it was a traumatic experience despite there being no casualties.
"I'm sorry that you and everyone in that room went through such a situation," he said during his monologue, adding that a joke made a few days ago cannot be related to such serious events.
The backlash came after both Melania Trump and President Donald Trump sharply criticized his statements, calling them inappropriate. Trump even demanded that Kimmel leave television.
For his part, Kimmel defended his position, stressing that he has always been critical of gun violence and that his comments had been misinterpreted. His show continues to air every night on ABC.
