Kurti: LDK can bring any candidate, we have no problem! Hoxha can withdraw
Prime Minister Albin Kurti, in reaction to the statement of LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku that Vjosa Osmani is obstructing him, said that "he does not obstruct any candidate brought forward by the LDK."
"Just let them bring us 15 signatures. We'll fill in the remaining signatures ," Kurti said.
However, he did not promise or guarantee any votes from his parliamentary group for the LDK candidate.
"In the box, voting is secret ," Kurti said.
He said that he has spoken with candidate Hatixhe Hoxha and she has expressed her willingness to withdraw from the race if the LDK brings 15 signatures and the name of its candidate for president.
"I immediately communicated with the candidate Hatixhe Hoxha and talked to her and she agreed to withdraw from the candidacy, if LDK brings 15 signatures for its candidate, whoever she is. LVV will supplement it with 15 more signatures from the majority and in this way we would have a candidate from civil society and one from LDK and tonight let's elect the president," Kurti said during an address to the media at the Kosovo Assembly.
But, Kurti said that the LDK must bring the signatures and the name of the candidate and the list must be dated today.
"They may not have 15 signatures, maybe they have 14 or 13, if they have them, let them bring them to us, we will fill it in for the candidate... If they are missing any, we will look into it for one or two," he said.
LDK said earlier that the signatures presented the day before did not have names, as this requires prior agreement with LVV. However, LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku said that Kurti is looking for a counter-candidate for Feride Rushiti.
