A tragedy happened this Friday afternoon in Halkidiki with a 13-year-old girl who lost her life after being struck by lightning.
The tragic event happened around 16:30 Greek time when the girl was on the beach of Poseid, in the sand. According to the information, the family from Moudania were bathing in Poseidi in Faro and when they saw the thunder they went outside, tried to go to the car but did not succeed, as they were struck by lightning while the little girl was killed. Immediately, the EKAV rescue teams went to the place and made great efforts, continued with the intubation, but failed to bring the girl back to life. The mother was in a state of shock.
In the area of Halkidiki today there is bad weather with heavy rain. The Kasandra police are conducting preliminary investigations into the incident.
The mayor of Kassandra, Anastasia Chalkia, was shocked by the event, who was at the health center of the area from the first moment she was informed about the event. She said:
" It is a tragedy that happened out of nowhere in a moment of joy for the family. This thing is really crazy. It was raining heavily and from what her mother said she was getting ready to leave the beach at that moment. She was an angel, a doll, an excellent student and athlete. Parents cannot understand what happened. The child was just walking on the beach, what happened is tragic ," she said.
