The US has imposed tariffs on goods from 60 countries around the world!

As tariffs announced by Donald Trump on 60 countries around the world that he calls "the worst offenders" came into effect, there has been a storm of reactions including retaliatory measures.

The BBC lists the latest reactions from the US's three main trading partners:

• In February, Trump announced a 10% tariff on nearly all Chinese goods entering the U.S. China responded with varying tariffs of 10-15% on certain U.S. products, then the U.S. escalated it to a 20% tariff on Chinese goods.

• On April 3, Trump raised tariffs to 54% on Chinese imports. China responded with a 34% tariff on most American goods.

• Last night, Trump imposed an additional 50% tariff, bringing the total on Chinese goods to 104% after China refused to withdraw its retaliatory tariff on the US. China has now increased its tariffs on US imports to 84%

• The US imposed a 20% tariff on most EU imports, as the bloc will also be hit by 25% tariffs on cars, steel and aluminium

• The 27 EU member states voted today to impose countermeasures, responding to the metals tariff that began on March 12.

• In stages this year, the EU plans to impose a series of additional tariffs on specific US imports, affecting goods worth €20.9bn (£18bn).

• Canada is affected by 25% tariffs on cars and metals, as well as other goods outside the free trade agreement it has with the US and Mexico.

• The country has responded with a series of tariffs, including 25% on certain cars coming from the US, and billions of dollars in American goods.
