Mossad chief visits Washington, seeks US help in relocating Palestinians from

The head of Israel's Mossad intelligence service, David Barnea, visited Washington this week to seek the United States' help in convincing several countries to accept hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from Gaza, Axios reported, citing two sources familiar with the developments.

During a meeting earlier this week with White House envoy Steve Witkoff, Barnea mentioned that Ethiopia, Indonesia and Libya have expressed a willingness to accept large numbers of Palestinians from Gaza. He suggested that the US offer economic or diplomatic incentives to these countries to accept the resettlement and assist Israel in this regard.

However, according to an Axios source, Witkoff has not committed to any concrete action and it remains unclear whether the US administration will actively engage in this initiative.

The Israeli government aims to relocate a large portion of Gaza's population, but the idea is highly controversial and widely criticized. While Israeli officials present it as a "voluntary relocation," American and Israeli legal experts have called such an action a war crime.

Recall that in February, President Donald Trump proposed relocating over two million Palestinians from Gaza as part of a plan to rebuild the territory. But the plan failed due to strong reactions from Arab countries.
