Scientists predict how the world will end, the Sun will not be to blame

A new scientific study suggests that the fate of Earth may be different than what has been believed for decades. While traditional theories predicted that the Sun would expand and engulf our planet in about five billion years, the latest research leaves open the possibility that Earth could escape this dramatic end.

According to researchers, in the final stages of its life, the Sun will lose a significant part of its mass, creating powerful solar winds that can push the Earth's orbit further into space. If this force prevails, our planet could narrowly avoid being engulfed by the expanding star. However, the fate is not expected to be the same for all planets. Scientists believe that Mercury and Venus will inevitably be swallowed by the Sun, while Mars may even manage to survive this process.

The study's lead author, Mats Esseldeurs, a doctoral candidate at the University of Leuven, explains that the fate of the Earth depends on a "delicate balance" between two main forces: the gravitational pull of the Sun, which tends to pull the planet closer, and the outward push caused by the Sun's loss of mass during its expansion.

Even if the Earth were to escape physical engulfment by the Sun, experts point out that the conditions for life would have disappeared long ago, due to the gradual increase in temperature and extreme changes in the planetary environment.
