Spain, three dead and 15 injured, the death toll from the raging sea waves

Three people have died and 15 others have been injured due to raging sea waves in Spain.

The island of Tenerife experienced one of the most tragic days related to the coastal phenomenon on Saturday.

The first incident occurred at Roque de Las Bodegas beach, in Taganana, where six French tourists fell into the water after being hit by large waves. Local police sources confirmed that the victims were swept away after ignoring a preventive buoy installed in the area.

One woman suffered injuries and was transported by helicopter to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital. Four others also required hospitalization and a fifth was treated at the scene.

On the beach of El Cabezo de Granadilla de Abona, in the south of the island, the body of a man was found floating in the sea. The coastguard and personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers, but unfortunately they were unable to revive him.
