Today, when Edi Rama is weaker than ever, mired in crime and corruption, and when Sali Berisha holds the seal and flag of the DP in his hand, he does not attack Rama, but Lulzim Basha.
It's terrible and shameful when you see to what extent Sali Berisha has knelt before Edi Rama!
At the height of the scandals that accompany Edi Rama's government, Sali Berisha declares that the protest is directed against Lulzim Basha, claiming that the latter aimed for a coalition with Rama after the 2021 elections, while we are in 2026 and Edi Rama has received 300,000 more votes in 2025, with Sali Berisha at the head of the DP.
However, this thesis raises a logical question: Why would a prime minister who secured 74 mandates, along with 3 mandates from his ally Tom Doshi, achieving a majority of 77 mandates, need to share power with the opposition?!
On the other hand, if the "non grata" declaration of Sali Berisha in May constituted a burden for the Democratic Party, weakening the opposition in the face of the international factor, what did Rama need?!
The moment when these accusations were articulated is significant: They came after Lulzim Basha articulated a strategic choice with the United States of America and not with Sali Berisha.
The DP with Berisha at the helm today is even weaker, more isolated and more necessary for Rama than it could have been with Basha yesterday.
Rama and Berisha's interests today are the same: The fight against justice!
The recall of the accusations against Lulzim Basha, who apparently left Sali Berisha alone in the face of Albanians and Democrats in order to remove any alibi, raises serious questions about the real purpose of the opposition action and risks being perceived as an attempt to divert public debate.
Berisha's fear is also justice! And in addition to the private issues that Berisha has there, justice must also speak about the injustice of the DP's stamp.
There is no Albanian who does not know that Edi Rama, through Belinda Balluku, gave Sali Berisha the seal of approval in a flagrant manner and in violation of every practice. But this issue is entering a phase where both sides are finding it increasingly difficult to influence the Supreme Court, while the risk that the case will end up in the European Court of Human Rights remains real.
On the other hand, Sali Berisha continues to be “non grata” in the United States and the United Kingdom, unwanted in Europe, accused of corruption and under investigation for money laundering. This not only refutes and renders meaningless his same accusations against Lulzim Basha, but also exposes him to the democrats he has deceived for four years.
In this context, Sali Berisha brings back old narratives against Lulzim Basha, in the hope that his real collaboration with Edi Rama will be forgotten.
In the face of the great dissatisfaction within the Democrats over the bargains with Rama and the bunkerization of the DP, this approach is making it increasingly ridiculous. Albanians and Democrats have realized that everything said about Lulzim Basha has been a lie.
Today, not only Albanians and Democrats, but also his closest people know that the only gangrenous problem of the DP is Sali Berisha himself./ Alfapress.al
