Strong storms and heavy rains sweep across Greece, authorities urge citizens to be careful

Bad weather has hit several regions of Greece, bringing heavy rain and strong storms. According to meteorologists, the unstable weather phenomena are expected to continue in the coming hours, while authorities are calling on citizens to exercise increased caution.
Hail was recorded in Mandra in Attica, as well as in the regions of Fthiotida and Larissa. Similar atmospheric phenomena were also reported in Kostur, where the bad weather was more pronounced.
According to meteorological forecasts, the worsening weather will last until the end of the afternoon, with local storms expected to affect parts of Attica. The phenomena may be accompanied by intense rainfall, high lightning activity, strong winds and hail.
Meanwhile, local media are reporting consequences in several areas, where numerous trees and branches have fallen, blocking roads. Considerable damage has also been recorded in the agricultural sector, especially in pistachio crops and fruit trees, which have been hit by strong winds and hail.
Meteorologists warn that unstable weather will continue in the coming hours, while citizens are recommended to avoid unnecessary movements in areas affected by the storms.
