Socialists at "Italia" Square, protesters on the Boulevard, Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama has sent a direct message to the protesters who have gathered on Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, a few meters from Italia Square, where the Socialists are celebrating the 35th anniversary of the creation of the Socialist Party.

Aware that the protest has started in parallel with the socialists' event, Edi Rama invited citizens to sit in on discussions and watch what he called the "praiseworthy mediation" of the state administration to protect Sazan and Zvërnec.

Despite his willingness to talk but not negotiate with the protesters, the prime minister and leader of the Socialists sent a blunt message to the crowd on the boulevard: "I have no negotiations to do with you, because I do not negotiate the program with those who voted for me."

Excerpt from Prime Minister Edi Rama's speech on the 35th anniversary of the Socialist Party:

Come verify the facts for yourself, see the evidence and feel relieved and proud of how our institutions have represented the processes for Sazan and Zvërnec. Come see with your own eyes that there is no status for a strategic investor, come hear with your own ears that for Sazan there is not even an agreement today, but a prolonged negotiation. It is being prolonged because we do not represent the interests of investors, no matter how good friends of Albania they may be.

In the name of those interests, we have made it clear at the table that the island is not for sale and the island is not for rent. The island is and remains the property of the Albanian state. Meanwhile, the state seeks to participate as a partner in the investment and seeks a share of the investment profit for the Albanian people.

I have no negotiations to do with you, because I do not negotiate the program with those who voted for me.

Regarding this topic, I am available at any time, on how we should harmonize nature protection with tourism development. As for the fate of development in Zvërnec, it will be decided only by the quality of the project and the development ambition of the investors.

Flee from the hyenas that surround you, for you will be the first to be drowned by the drool that seeks power and hides it under the hats they wear on their heads and the flags they tie around their necks.

Those of you who are sincerely connected to the environment and nature, do not confuse the orientation with where the danger comes from and come join the Socialist Party, which is in great need of anyone who disagrees with what is wrong. I am very clear that a protest started for nature has now turned into a protest of a political nature, absolutely legitimate, for anyone who wants to change their future.
