Severe storms in Pennsylvania, about 450,000 residents without power

Data from PowerOutage.us showed that almost 450,000 customers in Pennsylvania were without power in the early hours of Wednesday morning, a day after storms brought unstable weather to the central United States.

Duquesne Light announced it was working to restore power to more than 240,000 customers who experienced power outages in Allegheny and Beaver counties after the storm passed.

According to the company, strong winds reaching up to 80 miles (128.75 kilometers) per hour toppled trees, damaged power poles and have caused over 20,000 separate hazard reports so far.
