US tariffs, British Prime Minister: Trade war is in no one's interest

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer reacted on Wednesday to the new tariffs that US President Donald Trump announced he would unveil later on Wednesday, saying that the trade war is in "nobody's interest" and that the British government will apply a "calm and pragmatic approach."
"A trade war is in no one's interest and we will apply a calm and pragmatic approach. Our decisions will always be guided by the national interest, so we are prepared for any eventuality, and we will not rule anything out," Starmer said, The Guardian reports.
He has rejected calls from Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey, who has proposed that he lead an economic coalition of the willing to confront the United States in a trade war.
Starmer added that Davey is always trying to push him to make a wrong choice between America and Europe.
"I think it's the wrong choice for defence, for intelligence security, for reasons we've repeated in this chamber. I also think it's the wrong choice for trade and the economy," Starmer added.
