Scandal at UEFA Congress in Belgrade, Serbs remove Kosovo flag. Federation

The UEFA Congress is being held in the Serbian capital with all members of the European football organization. Even though UEFA president Ceferin said that football has no borders, bringing up the example of the co-organization of the Euro 2027 for the under-21s between Albania and Serbia, the organizers have made a ridiculous move by removing the Kosovo flag.

On Wednesday, the head of the Kosovo Football Federation, Agim Ademi, was seen posing with the Kosovo flag at the Congress premises. This seems to have worried the Serbian organizers, who have reportedly removed it.

The Serbian Football Federation, in a reaction on communication channels, apologized  'to every citizen and every member of the people, especially to compatriots in Kosovo, who felt disturbed and hurt by this lack of attention from the organizer, which was corrected immediately after our reaction,' the response states.

Once again, not even football could reduce Serbian nationalism towards Kosovo, and UEFA seems to be boasting in vain that Albania and Serbia received the green light to co-host the 2027 U-21 Euro.

The Kosovo Football Federation still has no reaction to this situation, while in the footage provided, the Secretary General of the FFK, Markus Weidner, appears, where Kosovo only has the Federation's logo and not the flag.

The full reaction of the Serbian Football Federation:

"The 49th UEFA Congress is taking place today in Belgrade, one of the biggest events ever held in our country. The Congress is organized by UEFA, while the Football Federation of Serbia welcomes the most important figures of football in Europe and the world.

The extraordinary organization was marred by a negligence of the organizers, which a participant in the Congress tried to exploit for non-football interests. We reacted together, quickly and decisively, and with full responsibility we inform the public that there is no flag or symbol of Kosovo at the UEFA Congress today in Belgrade.

"We apologize to every one of our citizens and every member of our people, especially to our compatriots in Kosovo, who felt disturbed and hurt by this lack of attention from the organizer, which was corrected immediately after our reaction," the Serbian Football Federation said in a statement.
