"Who talks about Lulzim Basha anymore?!"

This reflection was triggered by a statement by Agron Shehaj in a television interview today, where, when asked about Lulzim Basha, he responded with a forced indifference: "Let's talk about the future, not about the past. Today, who talks about Lulzim Basha anymore? Nobody, just the two of us in this lunch conversation."
Despite an attempt to be politically correct by emphasizing that "the real problem of Albanians today is Edi Rama, not Basha," his response still left me with a bitter taste.
A strong dualism was created within me: a part of me felt a certain "satisfaction" that Basha was being punished by all his "comrades until 2021", as he deserved with his lack of fight against them; but another part revolted against this feeling, making me stop and ask myself:
Do you react based on his political performance, or do I evaluate Luli in relation to the truth in which I believe?
In politics, as in life, everyone reaps what they sow. Lulzim Basha is no exception. He is experiencing relentless isolation and stigmatization from the same people who once supported him, glorified him and built a career on his name.
This is the inevitable fate of every leader who loses power, but unfortunately, the bill of this blow does not only fall on him, but also on those who support him, which frankly and “irrationally” includes me!
So in this context, anyone who tries to diminish and reduce Lul Basha's political valence with the phrase "who cares about Basha anymore?" I am giving them an answer that is not only honest, but also proven on the skin:
Basha is not dealt with by those who see power in the most rudimentary sense as a spoil to be torn with their teeth, as barbarians hungry for privileges. He is not dealt with by those who see politics as a transactional tool to secure money and influence.
Basha is the one who deals with those who have a clear ideal for a state of law, for a just and moral system. He is the one who refuses to be conformist and submissive, those who for the sake of truth are willing to confront the majority, even when this means suffering for your beliefs.
Agron Shehaj today admits that Berisha had proposed his candidacy for the Tirana mayorship, even though he had rejected it. But let's not forget an essential fact: while Berisha was luring him with promises and power, Lulzim Basha was in the eye of Sali Berisha's cyclone.
For three years, he has been the target of a relentless campaign of attacks, which knows no bounds in either slander or manipulation. While others cowered or adapted to fit the currents of the moment, he was left in the most difficult position possible.
Yes, Agron, you are right when you say that the big problem of Albania today is Edi Rama. But the truth is more complex than that: the biggest problem of Albanians is not simply the existence of Rama in power, but the fact that the only “alternative” offered to him is the return of an old mentality, embodied in the figure of Sali Berisha and the entire system that he represents.
You cannot fight today's corruption without confronting those who built it yesterday. You cannot seek a different future by relying on the shadows of the past. This is exactly what Lulzim Basha said when he parted ways with Berisha in September 2021:
"Enough with the theater. Those who were the connection of the oligarchs yesterday, cannot fight them today. Those who were connected to the gangs yesterday, cannot shake them off today who are in Rama's lap. Enough, you are a snake where Rama is the head and Berisha is the tail, but integral parts of each other."
While many others accepted the will of the primitive and archaic "majority" who dreamed of returning to the past where the sight of Flamur Noka as a minister exalted them to the sounds of songs about Sali Berisha, a significant group of people remained steadfast on a much more difficult path.
Lulzim Basha is the one who deals with those who have a steely character, those who do not bend to the wind of the moment, those who, despite his shortcomings, see beyond his flaws a different leader. Those who see in him not only a politician, but a human being, integrity and the effort to build something new.
And for this reason, even if Basha often breaks the spirit of his supporters with his passivity, even if from time to time he seems to lack the energy or determination that they would like, they continue the battle… sometimes even shaken by some of his inabilities, but they have an emotional and rational, but not transactional relationship… so they still love him… as their political family member, where they manage to see beyond his flaws, the goodness that is found in his humanity! Even in his vulnerability and weakness, they are motivated to be even stronger!
Unlike parties with powerful, rich, strong leaders... who are deeply weak in political instruments and rule with the money of power or the power of money!
