Extradited from Italy yesterday, GJKKO upholds "prison arrest" against Bujar Shega

The Special Court has made the decision to remand Bujar Shega in prison.
Bujar Shega, an ally of Marsel Shega, was extradited yesterday from Italy where he was arrested in November 2024, while the police announced that the procedures for his return to Albania have been completed.
Shega is accused of the criminal offenses of "Trafficking in narcotics" and "Laundering the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity", being considered part of a structured criminal group, led by Suel Çela.
The extradition procedure was finalized after close cooperation between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome. Bujar Shega, born in Elbasan, was declared internationally wanted and was arrested in Italy.
In 2024, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime had assigned him the security measure of “Arrest in prison.” This case highlights the commitment of the authorities to combat organized crime and drug trafficking.
