Italian Sports Minister: Gambling players should be removed from the national team

Details that have emerged from the investigations conducted by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office into the betting issue are once again shaking the world of football in Italy.
In fact, several Serie A footballers have been involved, including Nicolò Fagioli and Sandro Tonali, who were suspended last season.
The Minister of Sports and Youth, Andrea Abodi, spoke about this topic today on Il Messagero. He raised the idea of removing from the four-time world champion national team the players who are involved in the illegal betting issue.
"The blue jersey should be an expression of technical value, but also of moral behavior, which should even precede it. It is not enough to score goals. If you violate the principles, you must go beyond the sanction. I see the call-up to the national team as a comprehensive award.
"Not playing for the Blues does not mean not playing sports anymore, but doing it in a different way. It is an assessment that needs to be made. Even the plea agreement presupposes taking responsibility for the future. I think it is interesting that there is a part of rehabilitation through social services. These players need to know life a little better", - he said.
