Trump denies reports that talks with Iran have broken off

United States President Donald Trump said late Monday that diplomatic efforts to reach a deal with Iran are continuing, dismissing reports that talks have stalled.

"Talks are continuing at a rapid pace with the Islamic Republic of Iran," Trump wrote, without providing further details.

His reaction comes amid uncertainty over the conduct of talks on Monday.

The Iranian Tasnim news agency reported earlier that Iran would no longer participate in the exchange of messages through intermediaries, a move that appeared to be linked to increased Israeli attacks in Lebanon on Iran's ally Hezbollah.

Hezbollah is a militant group and political party that controls much of southern Lebanon. It is considered a terrorist organization by the United States, while the European Union has blacklisted only its armed wing.

Iran's Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning what it called Israeli violations of the ceasefire and adding that Washington is responsible for "the consequences and impacts of this situation."

Then, in another post on Truth Social, Trump said he had spoken with both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and, through intermediaries, Hezbollah.

"Israel will not attack them and they will not attack Israel," he wrote.
