Trump announces change to Coca-Cola recipe!

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he had spoken with the Coca-Cola Company and that the company had agreed to begin using "real cane sugar" in Coca-Cola produced in the United States.

Coca-Cola declined to immediately confirm this claim.

"We appreciate President Trump's enthusiasm for the legendary Coca-Cola brand," company spokeswoman Michelle Agnew said in a statement.

"More details on the innovative new options across the Coca-Cola product line will be announced soon."

According to the New York Times, Trump made the statement without mentioning high-fructose corn syrup, which has been widely used in American Coca-Cola since the 1980s, in part because it is cheaper than sugar.

Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has partially attributed the obesity epidemic in the United States to the use of this syrup.

Coca-Cola already sells versions of its soft drinks made with cane sugar, such as "Mexican Coke" (also known as MexiCoke), which was initially imported unofficially from Mexico through independent distributors. Since 2005, the company has also officially imported MexiCoke into Texas, gradually expanding its distribution across the country - primarily in areas with large Hispanic communities.

Also, for the Passover period, the company produces and distributes a "kosher" version of Coca-Cola with sugar instead of corn syrup, as the consumption of corn and other grains is forbidden for traditionally religious Jews. This product is distinguished by its characteristic yellow cap.

It remains unknown whether Coca-Cola will completely replace corn syrup with sugar in its U.S. production of Coca-Cola. A company spokeswoman did not say whether that was imminent or whether Trump's statement was simply a personal wish or a misunderstanding. The White House has not yet commented on the matter.
