Trump: US considering reducing troops in Germany

United States President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that his administration is considering reducing the US military presence in Germany, amid diplomatic tensions with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Through a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump announced that the decision is still under consideration, but is expected to be made soon.

"The US is studying and evaluating the possibility of reducing the number of its troops in Germany and a decision will be made in the near future," he wrote.

The US president's statement comes after a fierce confrontation with the German chancellor regarding positions on the war between the US and Israel against Iran.

According to reports, Merz's critical comments about this conflict have prompted Washington's reaction, increasing tensions between the two traditional allies within NATO.
