The US is seeking a global coalition to restore maritime transport in Hormuz,

The United States is undertaking a new initiative to create an international coalition aimed at restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important corridors for global energy trade.

According to reports from The Wall Street Journal and Reuters, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has approved the creation of an initiative called “Maritime Freedom Building” (MFC). The initiative is described as a joint project of the State Department and the Pentagon.

The plan is detailed in an official document distributed to US embassies around the world, with the aim of securing international support for this strategic project.

According to the document, the MFC is considered a key step towards building a new maritime security architecture in the post-conflict Middle East. This structure aims to ensure long-term security of energy supplies, protect critical maritime infrastructure, and preserve navigation rights in key sea lanes.

The document asks US embassies to present this initiative to partner countries by May 1, while specifying that the request should not be addressed to countries such as Russia, China, Belarus, Cuba and "other US adversary actors."

According to the plan, participation in this coalition could take various forms, including diplomatic engagement, information sharing, sanctions enforcement, naval presence, or other forms of support.
