Ukraine reveals the “Morrigan” drone, the secret weapon that is hitting Russia’s main supply artery

Ukrainian forces have released details of a new unmanned aerial vehicle called the “Morrigan,” used to strike Russian targets deep inside Moscow-controlled territory in southern Ukraine. According to the 412th “Nemesis” Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces, the drone has been used in covert operations and has been shown for the first time in footage of its preparation and launch. The unit has described it as a “secret weapon” with a medium range.
The Morrigan drone is a fixed-wing unmanned aircraft equipped with an engine and a propeller in the front. It is launched by a catapult system or rail, eliminating the need for a runway, which makes it more difficult to detect and neutralize.
According to Ukrainian military sources, the drone is domestically produced and designed specifically for operations behind enemy lines, with a range ranging from 20 to 300 kilometers. Unlike smaller FPV drones, the Morrigan targets strategic targets such as supply lines, warehouses and transport vehicles. The Ukrainian unit claims that the drone was used in attacks on the R280 “Novorossiya” highway, a key route connecting Rostov-on-Don with Crimea and used to supply Russian forces in southern Ukraine.
According to their statements, the operations have targeted supply vehicles, including trucks and fuel tankers, causing significant damage to Russian military logistics. Meanwhile, pro-Russian sources have reported that alternative transport routes are being considered due to the intensity of attacks in this strategic corridor.
In some Russian-controlled areas, local authorities have also imposed temporary restrictions on civilian movement due to increased attacks on key supply routes. The development of this drone shows the increasing use of Ukrainian-made air systems for precision operations deep inside enemy territory, adding a new dimension to drone warfare on the eastern front.
