Prime Minister Edi Rama has publicly confirmed that the Special Prosecution Office has frozen funds for the purchase of land in Zvërnec, where the tourist resort of US President Donald Trump's son-in-law is expected to be built.
He considered this fact positive, emphasizing that now the issue of the origin of the property will be covered by an independent and professional investigation through SPAK.
"I consider it positive that SPAK keeps the funds frozen, without letting them pass to the seller, for whom there is an investigative process. This, in my view, is also very positive for anyone who claims property in that territory, because now the issue of the origin of the property will be covered by an independent and professional investigation through SPAK," the prime minister said.
Edi Rama explained that whatever the decision of the Special Prosecution Office, it will be indisputable regarding the origin of the property from a legal point of view, leading the money to the true owner. In this way, he emphasized, the saga of claims will finally be closed.
"In both cases, the result will be indisputable from a legal point of view, while from a claims point of view, it will put an end to any claims and speculation that is not based on the law. If the seller has a legitimate origin of the property, he will receive the money.
If there is none, they will remain with the Republic of Albania and they will be given to anyone whose origin of the property is proven. This is where the saga of property claimants ends, with the scheming of others from behind," concluded Prime Minister Edi Rama.
