Video/ Sexual abuse of young children, nursery worker arrested in Britain

A 30-year-old nursery worker in Britain, Nathan Bennett, has been arrested for sexually abusing at least five young children.
The video published by the Daily Mail shows the moment Bennett opens the door of his home to police officers, who announce his arrest.
Bennett faces prison after being convicted of eight charges, including rape, sexual assault and penetrative assault, involving five children aged two or three. He had previously admitted 13 other charges relating to four of the victims.
Parents and staff had raised concerns about Bennett's behavior in February of last year. The daycare director testified that she had seen him on security cameras putting his hands down a child's pants and immediately removed him from the daycare.
Avon and Somerset Police launched an investigation that led to Bennett's arrest. The nursery was subsequently closed, with families demanding answers about the country's safeguarding system, which they said had failed with catastrophic consequences.
The prosecutor described the case as "every parent's nightmare," underlining the importance of a rapid response and thorough investigation of such cases.
Bennett had started working at the nursery in July 2024 and had told staff he was autistic, although he had never been formally diagnosed. Staff observed his suspicious behaviour, seeing him sitting with children on his lap for long periods. The nursery teacher, Elizabeth Barton, said he had developed a “jealous relationship” with five children and was controlling over them.
During the trial, the jury was shown interviews with two of the children involved. The mother of one of the children testified that her son had told her that he had been abused at daycare. Bennett, for his part, denied having any sexual attraction to the children and stated that he was “imitation” of what had happened to him as a child.
He had previously pleaded guilty to 13 other charges, including various sexual assaults on children and inciting sexual activity with them. Judge William Hart ordered Bennett to be held in custody until his sentencing on March 16.
The victims' families said: "Nothing can explain the shock and anger we feel. The children were innocent and completely vulnerable. We want answers and hope that, in addition to criminal justice, the system of protection at the daycare center is reviewed so that something like this never happens again."
