"Volodymyr, can you hit Moscow?"/ Foreign media: Trump asks Ukraine to bomb Russia
US - US President Donald Trump has privately encouraged Ukraine to accelerate strikes deep into Russian territory. Trump even asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky if he could strike Moscow if the US provided long-range weapons, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday , citing people familiar with the discussions.
Citing two people familiar with the conversation between Trump and Zelensky, the media outlet writes that the US president had asked his Ukrainian counterpart if he could strike military targets deep inside Russia if he provided weapons capable of doing so.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from foreign media.
“Volodymyr, can you hit Moscow?... Can you hit St. Petersburg too?” Trump said, according to the Financial Times.
The news comes as Trump appears to be improving relations with Ukraine after months of troubled relations, offering advanced weapons to the war-torn country through a NATO deal and threatening Russia with "tough tariffs" if Putin does not accept a peace deal within 50 days.
