The Democratic Party has requested an urgent investigation into Edi Rama's mafia blackmail against Erion Veliaj, stating that the latter was threatened with 100 years in prison in exchange for handing over the Tirana Municipality.
In a statement to the media, the DP refers to the letter published by Erion Veliaj on social networks. According to the text in the letter, after his transfer to Fier prison, Prime Minister Rama sent the Minister of Justice, Toni Gogu, to his cell to ask him to hand over the Municipality of Tirana to Arbër Hajdari, otherwise he would face a sentence of 100 years in prison for violating the constitutional order and financing the 'Flamingove'.
The DP considers this episode as evidence of what it calls the true face of Edi Rama and expresses concern for Veliaj's safety in Fier prison.
This case also raises questions about the role of SPAK, which the DP accuses of being used as an instrument of blackmail in clashes within the majority.

The Democratic Party condemns in the strongest possible terms the threat in the cell of prisoner Erion Veliaj and demands an urgent investigation into this criminal act by Edi Rama, Toni Gogu, as well as the notorious thief Arbër Hajdari, who seeks to take over the Municipality of Tirana in an illegal and unconstitutional way.
