The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has reacted after the debate created over his meeting with the Minister of Justice, Toni Gogu, in Fier prison, as well as allegations about a message conveyed on behalf of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Through a statement, Veliaj denies claims that he organized or financed the protests, while emphasizing that he does not accept having his dignity violated, despite the restrictions on freedom he is experiencing.

He has also published a letter, which he says was written in his own handwriting and which, according to him, contains the truth about the meeting with Minister Toni Gogu, on Friday at 10:30 PM.

In this letter, Veliaj claims that Gogu conveyed several requests from Prime Minister Rama, related to the protests, the mayoral mandate and his relationship with former MP Plarent Ndreca.

 

According to notes published by Veliaj, Rama asked him to accept his involvement in the protests known as "Flamingos" and those of the students, warning him that otherwise he could face charges of "disturbing the constitutional order". He was also asked, according to him, to resign from the Municipality of Tirana and delegate leadership to Arbër Hajdar, as well as to no longer consult with Plarent Ndreca.

Veliaj has called on the prime minister to publish even a single piece of evidence for the claims that he organized or financed the protests.

Erion Veliaj's reaction:

"I want to assure socialists that I do not throw stones at my socialist house, but I also do not allow anyone to throw stones at my dignity.

I really have less freedom than the Prime Minister, but I have many times more dignity than he does.

I reject the Bolshevik hallucinations that I organized or financed the protests and the whole truth of the meeting with the Minister of Justice, Toni Gogu, is this letter written by my hand.

I challenge the country's Prime Minister to produce a single piece of evidence for the allegations of protests.

Otherwise, go away!”

Toni Gogu comes to the meeting after 20 months.

TG: R made the transfer, ordered that this one should be made from a dormitory to a prison, and that he personally dealt with hospital leave, permission for meetings, and access to friends and family.

R has bypassed TG and has ordered his own transfer and isolation with these 3 demands:
– Accept involvement with Flamingos – Students or charges of “disturbance of the constitutional order” will be added from prison and you will get 100 years in prison in 313 and 302.
– Give up the TR municipality and delegate it (to Arbër Hajdari).
– Stop consulting with Plarent Ndreca.
