The number of visitors from Africa and Asia doubles / 3.3 million visitors came to Albania in three months

During March 2025, a total of 1,154,288 citizens, both Albanian and foreign, entered the territory of Albania, according to official data published by the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT). Compared to the same period a year earlier, this number marks a modest increase of 0.3%.

If we talk about their composition, it turns out that 604,523 Albanian citizens and 549,765 foreign citizens have entered. 

The number of Albanian citizens who have entered the territory has increased by 3.3% compared to the previous year, while the number of foreign citizens has decreased by 2.7%.

Regarding departures from Albanian territory, a total of 1,182,728 citizens left during the month of March, registering an increase of 0.6% compared to the same month a year earlier. Specifically, 621,777 were Albanians, with an increase of 2.9%, while 560,951 were foreigners, with a decrease of 1.9%.

The vast majority of foreign arrivals, 95%, come from Europe, with 80% from Southern Europe and 7% from Western Europe. It is also worth noting the doubling of the number of visitors from Africa and Asia, a clear indication of the growing interest from non-traditional markets.

In 96% of cases, entries were made for personal purposes, dominated by holidays and family visits. However, this category has suffered a slight decrease of 1.1% compared to a year earlier. Meanwhile, entries for business purposes have fallen significantly, by 17.8% less compared to March last year.

If we talk about a three-month period, it turns out that a total of 3,371,766 citizens entered, experiencing an increase of 6.6% compared to the same period last year. Of these entries, 1,745,547 were Albanians and 1,626,219 were foreigners, with an increase of 7.3% and 5.9% respectively./ SCAN
