Energy and construction received fewer loans in February/ Trade does not "give up" the first place, leads with the highest value

“Scan Intel” has analyzed the figures regarding lending during February of the current year, to understand which segments of the private sector have relied more on banks operating in our country for financing during this period. First of all, the sector that has received the most loans during the second month of the year is trade, both wholesale and retail, which also includes the repair of vehicles and motorcycles. This sector has received about 5 billion lek of new loans during February, which translates into about 50 million euros.
This sector was in first place even in 2024, official figures indicate. In second place, meanwhile, we find the processing industry with 3.6 billion lek, followed by construction with 1.7 billion lek.
International organizations; arts, entertainment and recreation activities; public administration and defense, and activities of households as employers received less credit.
But how has credit changed by sector over the course of a year?
New lending to the extractive industry and insurance financial activities appears to have seen the largest annual growth, followed by manufacturing or professional, scientific and technical activities. Credit to the education sector, water supply and insurance financial activities also saw significant increases, compared to February 2024.
As for the sectors that received the least new loans during February of this year, compared to the same month last year, we find construction with a decrease of 57%, electricity with 88% and transportation with 96%./ SCAN
