"Good Morning America": Albania, discover the natural wonders of the
Maggie Rulli, journalist at "Good Morning America" shares her experience in one of the luxury European destinations - at a much lower cost.

Rebecca: You might think it's Greece or maybe Italy, but you're actually looking at Albania – where you'll find luxury relaxation at a much lower price – and Maggie Rulli is there to show us – Hi Maggie!

Maggie – Hey Rebecca – yes life is beautiful here this morning- I put my feet in the water and the sun is shining – and look at this absolutely gorgeous view. When I say Albania - most people probably don't think of a holiday destination and thus probably still associate the country with communism.

But when you see this beach, you can see how much the country has changed in the last 30 years, and yes, our team did the hard work for you. You are welcome to explore all the beaches, history, food that Albania has to offer.

We enjoyed the Mediterranean views, the natural wonders, the ancient ruins. No, we are not in Greece, Italy or Croatia, these are all Albania. Just a 30 minute ferry ride from Greece – across from Italy and less than 200 miles south of the Croatian border line.

Both accommodation, food and activities are cheaper – then you can find the most stunning beaches in the whole world.

Let's start with the main attractions - the beaches of the Albanian Riviera -

No big chain hotels here yet – but for an accommodation option right on the beach – a room with a sea view costs about $250 a night – in Greece a luxury hotel can cost you thousands – and hotels only a block away from the coast costs about $50 per night.

And now that we're on the beach, such a sunbed would cost you $100 in Greece – here in Albania it's $5-10.

For an adventure – we kayaked miles and miles to the coastline and mountain areas to explore. The mountains behind me are stunning – meaning we can enjoy the stunning views at a much lower cost.

After a long day at sea I feel hungry. A meal costs less than $20 here in Albania – it can cost three times as much in Greece.

And for a holiday away from the coast - immerse yourself in the history of Albania -

Butrint is home to ruins dating from the 4th century BC to the 19th century. This theater is Greek, here this stage is Roman – it almost seems as if the Greeks and the Romans are in one place. Admission is about $10 for adults and completely free for children under 12.

Don't miss the Ottoman-style town of Gjirokastra-

Gjirokastra a UNESCO world heritage site – complete with castle
is known for its stone houses and what I am very excited to visit is the local “Bazaar”.

To explore the Albanian natural wonders, we visited Syr e Kaltër-

A fountain with deep blue water – so transparent you can see the bottom of it.

And at the end of the day a nightlife-

A bottle of beer here costs $2.50 – about half the price on offer in Greece. But hurry because the hidden gem - Albania is becoming popular!

Maggie: Why did you decide to come to Albania?
Tourists: We got to know the country from TikTok, lots of videos – it's great – it's fun!

Maggie: Albania is also planning to build a new international airport right here in the coastal city next year – so this hidden gem won't stay hidden for long!
