Indexation 2025/ Production, trade and income are stagnating in Albania! Our country is far behind in the region, here are the recommendations for improvement

Faced with global challenges and an increasingly connected world, economic diversification is a key factor for the preservation and sustainable development of a state.
In this context, Albania ranks 84th in the Global Economic Diversification Index Report 2025, achieving an overall score of around 81 points. This report provides an in-depth insight into countries that have been able to diversify their economies and those that still face challenges.
Albania, while making strides in production, trade, and income, lags behind most Balkan countries. The data shows that the country still has much room for improvement in terms of further economic diversification, a process that could include developing new sectors, improving the business climate, and investing in human capital.
This index measures economic diversification in three main areas:
Manufacturing sub-index: Albania has achieved a score of 100.21 points, indicating high diversification in manufacturing sectors.
Trade sub-index: With 84.74 points, this result suggests a considerable diversification of Albania's exports and imports.
Revenue sub-index: A score of 91.85 points indicates a broad source of government revenue from various sources.
Albania ranks lower than most Balkan countries, with the exception of one country missing from the index.
Serbia: 66th place (higher than Albania). Bosnia and Herzegovina: 61st place. This indicates a need for improvement in terms of economic diversification compared to the region.
Recommendations for improvement:
To further improve economic diversification, according to the report, Albania could focus on:
Developing new economic sectors: Investing in new industries and technologies can help broaden the economic base.
Improving the business climate: Facilitating administrative procedures and increasing transparency can encourage foreign and domestic investment.
Diversification of exports: Expanding the range of exported products and services can reduce dependence on certain sectors.
Investing in human capital: Educating and training the workforce to meet the demands of the modern market are essential for long-term economic development.
The “Global Economic Diversification Index 2025” report, compiled by the World Governments Summit, analyzes the economic diversification of over 112 countries over the past 23 years, including Albania. This index assesses diversification in three main areas: government revenues, manufacturing and trade./ Monitor
