The search for gold begins, a mining permit is granted by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy for the search for this mineral in Babje i Librazhdi, while the total value of the investment is estimated at 40.12 million lek.

This is the first time, after many years, that a mining permit has been granted for the search for this mineral, while in parallel, with this procedure, another permit has been granted for the search - the discovery of copper in the area of ​​Mirdita, as well as another permit for exploitation , for limestone.

The procedures are based on the mining plans approved in previous years, but also on the new plan for the development of the sector 2022-2024. According to the latter, the development of mining activity in the next 3 years is mainly focused on the extraction of limestone, decorative stone and marbleized limestone.

Based on the official document, the opening of competitive procedures or the development of open procedures is foreseen for 62 mining areas, while only a very limited number is expected to be given for the extraction of chrome ore.

For the latter, it is planned to give 2 mining areas, while 3 other areas will be given for copper ore. Compared to the 2019-2021 plan, there is a reduction in mining areas, as the plan for the 3-year period that we left behind determined the opening of competitive competitions for 78 mining areas, or 16 more than the current one.

Meanwhile, as far as the growth of the annual product is concerned, it is expected that there will be no changes, remaining at up to 5%./ SCAN
