Parliament session begins, MPs observe a minute of silence for officer Enea Mekolli

The Albanian Parliament held a minute of silence today (June 4) for the State Police officer who was killed in the line of duty during an operation in Lozhan i Maliqi by the arrested and highly wanted and convicted Violand Braçellari.
Before paying respect to the fallen martyr, the leader of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, was the one who requested a minute of silence, inviting other parliamentary groups as well, as he asked justice to act with all its might.
Balla said that Mekolli has now been declared a martyr of the homeland, while underlining that whoever raises his hand against the police raises his hand against the state.
"The blood of the state police is the blood of the state itself, whoever raises his hand against the police raises his hand against the state. We wish a speedy recovery to the injured officer. Justice must act with maximum force and punishment. On behalf of the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party and I believe with the support of all parliamentary groups, we request a minute of silence for the officer who fell in the line of duty, Enea Mekolli, and his declaration as a martyr of the homeland," said Balla, among other things.
"A police officer has fallen in the line of duty and his colleague was injured during an operation. Ladies and gentlemen, the State Police clashes with crime every day. Condolences to his family. We wish the injured police officer a speedy recovery. May justice act with the maximum punishment against the perpetrator."
Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Klodjana Spahiu, stated that the officer's sacrifice will be appreciated, while wishing the injured officer a speedy recovery.
