The person who killed a police officer and injured another during a police operation in Llozhan i Maliqi, in the early hours of this morning, has been identified.
Sources indicate that the suspect is Violand Braçellari , a former soldier who has been wanted for years. He also had a court decision for drug-related matters.
It was previously reported that after reports that the wanted man was hiding in the area, Korça's police officers headed towards Podena to arrest him.
During the operation, the suspect opened fire on police forces, killing one officer and wounding another.
It is reported that the officer, citizen Enea Mekolli , lost his life in this exchange of fire , while the injured policeman is Edison Adri.
It is also reported that Braçellari had been living for years in the forests of Podena, where he had built a large hut and cared for several dogs.
It is reported that the day before, the police had received information that he was hiding in this deep mountainous area.
About 7-8 police officers, some of whom were dressed in civilian clothes, participated in the operation. However, Braçellari identified the police forces during the night, around 03:00-04:00 on Thursday morning, and then opened fire on them.
