Beware of online scammers! Foreign doctors, without permits and licenses, advertise medical services in Albania

Albanian patients are exposed to fraud by doctors or self-proclaimed doctors who come from foreign countries by renting a space and advertising on social networks without obtaining permission from our health authorities.

Based on these advertisements, "Top Channel" became interested in the Doctor's Order, which denied having provided them with a license. But these cases are many, and not all patients seek information by trusting the white shirt and the country from which the doctor is advertised.

On the other hand, according to the code of ethics, the doctor has forbidden to advertise himself as it happens in our country.

"According to the law, no one can exercise the activity without being licensed, every doctor who comes must be licensed. The code of ethics prohibits doctor advertising. Mjeku is not a 5 star hotel or no star at all. It is said to be one of the 10 best in the world. I have no information that such doctors have come here", says the head of the Order of Doctors, Fatmir Brahimaj.
There are those doctors or non-doctors who come offering medical consultations to recruit patients and send them to hospitals outside Albania.

"This should also be stopped because first you have to consult whether the case is to be treated in Turkey or another country. But you have to convince the Albanian authorities that you are a doctor", adds Brahimaj.

A few years ago, a patient lost his life because an Italian doctor who provided health care in our country had treated him for cancer with baking soda. In order not to repeat these cases, the Health Inspectorate should screen foreign doctors who are advertised on social networks if they are licensed by our authorities.
