Albania's trade with regional countries increases/Trade boom with Montenegro, but Serbia and North Macedonia "abandon" us

According to the latest data from the Institute of Statistics, exports and imports for March 2025 with the region are increasing. During March 2024, Albania exported a total of about 6.8 billion lek of goods and services, while in March 2025 this figure reached about 8.7 billion.

On the other hand, imports have experienced a slight increase, from 4.5 to 4.6 billion lek. "Scan Intel" has analyzed data from foreign trade, which shows that the country with which we have reduced exports the most is North Macedonia. In March 2024, the value of exports with North Macedonia was about 1.4 billion lek, while for this year it results in about 842 million lek, which represents a decrease in the volume of goods by 41.2%.

Exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia also declined, with exports down 25.7% and 20.1% respectively. Meanwhile, exports to Montenegro increased by 14.1% and Kosovo, where the increase was most significant, by 83.1%.

Regarding the countries with which we imported the most during March, it turns out that Montenegro leads, where imports have increased by 170%. According to the data, it turns out that from 121 million lek of imports in March 2024, the value has increased to about 328 million lek.

Imports also increased significantly with Bosnia and Herzegovina, at 10.4%. On the other hand, Kosovo has recorded a minimal increase of 0.8% in terms of imports.

Meanwhile, the two countries that have recorded significant decreases in imports are North Macedonia and Serbia, where the level of imports has fallen by 0.8% and 5.7% respectively. It turns out that during March last year, the value of imports with Serbia was 2.1 billion lek, while this year it fell to 2 billion, marking the largest decrease for this month./ SCAN
