Good Friday is celebrated/ The service is led by Archbishop Joani at the "Resurrection of Christ" Cathedral in Tirana

Good Friday is the moment when the Church stands with bated breath before the mystery of the Cross, burial, and descent into Hell of Christ.
On this day, our Lord Jesus Christ accepts suffering and death for the salvation of the human race. He who is Life enters the grave to destroy death. He who is Light enters the darkness to illuminate the universe.
All the sufferings, the mourning, the crucifixion and the burial of Christ are seen and experienced in the light of the Resurrection. For the Lord does not remain in the tomb, but is resurrected and with Him everything is resurrected. The pain of Good Friday is a preparation for the joy of Easter.
The Good Friday service, with its profound solemnity, was presided over by His Beatitude, Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all Albania, Joan, at the “Resurrection of Christ” Cathedral in Tirana.
The service began at 6:00 PM and took place with the lively participation of the clergy, the Byzantine choir, and the faithful, in an atmosphere of humility and spiritual concentration.
At the heart of the service, verses from the stanzas of lamentations were sung, words with profound content that summarize the pain and hope of the Church:
You, O Christ, O Life, were laid in the tomb, and the angelic forces marveled and sang glory at your esteem.
How are you dying, O Life, how do you remain within the grave, when you have completely crushed the power of the enemy, and from Hell you raise the buried.
He died lovingly, and was laid down in the earth, and raise me up, O Jesus my Savior, from the grave of tyrannical sin.
Glory be to You, O Giver of Life, for You laid Your hands on the cross for us today, and You completely crushed the enemy.
I alone, among women, gave birth to you without pain, but now I have unbearable pain, Saint Mary was crying out in lamentation.
Like a pelican, wounded by a spear in the rib, you feed and revive your children with blood, and with life-giving juices you water them.
All generations offer oil to you, O my Christ, upon the grave.
The myrrh-bearing women came to anoint the tomb with tears and myrrh.
The eaters of the mass, curse and kick the One who fed them.
When the Virgin Mother saw you lying there, she wept bitterly.
Oh sweet spring, my beloved Son, where is your beauty!
Arise, compassionate one, and raise all from the pits of Hell.
Rise, Life-Giving Moon, the Mother who gave birth to you said in tears.
Grant peace to the Church, salvation to the people, O Lord, by Your Resurrection.
On this evening, the Church does not just stand by the tomb — she awaits the resurrection. And from her heart rises the prayer:
“Christ who was crucified — will rise again and with his resurrection, he gives life to all human beings.”
