Why do cats and dogs hate each other?

You may have wondered why dogs and cats hate each other.

The many habits and behaviors of dogs are often irritating to cats.

Being related to wolves, which hunt in packs, dogs are much more social creatures than cats, which often get by alone in the wild.

Dogs are curious by nature, love attention and get excited easily.

Cats, on the other hand, are often distant in relation to people and other animals.

Cats often perceive the happy and lively behavior of dogs as a threat for no apparent reason.

This behavior causes the cat to run away, which the dog takes as a sign to follow.

Scientists, however, claim that dogs will run after any small, fast animal, such as squirrels and rabbits.

For the same reason, which lies in their instinct, even dogs run after a ball or a stick.

This behavior may also be related to a natural hierarchy based on a food chain, in which larger animals generally prey on smaller ones.

Since most dog breeds are larger than a domestic cat, their natural instinct is to run after it.

The popular belief that dogs and cats automatically hate each other is simply a social construct, resulting from the natural reactions of dogs and cats to each other's behavior.
