Born during World War II, Sali Berisha celebrates his birthday as the leader of the DP!

As Albania is engulfed in massive protests against the government and the corrupt old political caste, DP leader Sali Berisha celebrates his 82nd birthday today. He shared a photo with his wife Liri with a note dedicated to the revolt that has begun in Tirana.

"Friends, 82 years old today! In the most beautiful autumn of my life! Glory to God," writes Sali Berisha next to the following photo.

Despite his age and challenges with the judiciary, he continues to remain a central figure in the opposition camp and follows political developments with intensity. The Democratic Party still remains the largest opposition political force in the country.

Sali Berisha was born on 15 October 1944, in Viçidol. He served as the second President of Albania from 1992–1997 and the first president elected by parliament through free democratic elections after the fall of the communist regime.

Also, Sali Berisha was the Prime Minister of Albania from 2005 to 2013. After losing the 2013 elections, he stepped down from the post of leader of the Democratic Party to return again in 2022.
