Accusations against Trump, the US Supreme Court dismisses the lawsuit to exclude him from the presidential election

The US Supreme Court has thrown out a lawsuit seeking to disqualify Donald Trump from the 2024 election, under a constitutional provision that bars anyone who "engages in rebellion or revolution" from holding public office.

The justices dismissed the appeal of John Anthony Castro, a tax consultant from Texas. Castro had appealed a lower court ruling that said he could not file a lawsuit seeking Trump's impeachment under US law.

Trump, the front-runner for the Republican nomination, has continued to make the false claim that the 2020 election was stolen from him through fraud.
