Behgjet Pacolli denounces fraud scheme: Unknown persons are taking money in my name!

A disturbing case of fraud has recently been discovered in Albania, where the name and identity of one of the most prominent Albanian businessmen was misused by criminal groups.
Unknown fraudsters have used his photo and phone number, cloned through digital technology, to contact various people via the WhatsApp application.
They demanded money, claiming that businessman Behxhet Pacolli was urgently in Tirana and would return it to them the next day.
The messages were structured in such a way as to create a sense of urgency, with content such as: "I urgently need money in Tirana now. I'm sending someone to get it, and I'll come back tomorrow and give it back."
In some cases, the requests were for large amounts ranging from 10,000 to 95,000 euros. Unfortunately, some honest citizens have fallen prey to this scam and transferred the money.
The case was discovered on April 1, when an attentive friend became suspicious of the manner of writing and immediately contacted the businessman himself, preventing further potential damage.
The businessman's public statement:
Recently, sophisticated criminal groups have emerged that are using various methods to deceive people and gain large sums of money.
Unfortunately, such a case has also happened with my identity, in Albania.
An unknown person used my photo and, through digital technology, also imitated my phone number. He contacted some of my friends via WhatsApp, asking for money with the excuse that I needed it urgently in Tirana, and that I would return it the next day.
The messages were like: "I urgently need money in Tirana now. I'm sending someone to get it, and I'll come back tomorrow and give it back."
These requests were for large amounts – from 10 to 95,000 euros. Unfortunately, some people believed them and sent money.
It wasn't until April 1st that an attentive friend realized that my writing style wasn't my style and immediately let me know.
I do not ask for money from anyone. If you receive any suspicious messages in my name, do not react – but immediately notify the police or inform me directly.
Together we can stand up to these unscrupulous fraudsters.
