Journalists boycott Albin Kurti, throw microphones and cameras to the ground

The continued refusal of the acting Prime Minister and leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, to speak to the media has caused a strong reaction from journalists in Kosovo.

In a symbolic act of protest, media representatives placed their microphones and cameras on the ground as Kurti walked towards the Government building, expressing dissatisfaction with his public lack of communication.

This reaction comes after several days of lack of answers from Kurti to journalists' questions, especially after the constitutive session was scheduled by the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, for April 15.

The political situation has remained tense in Kosovo, as the process of constituting the new Parliament has failed for the fifth time in a row.

The Vetëvendosje Movement, in coalition with Guxo and Alternativa, won 48 seats in the elections held on February 9. However, this is not enough to secure the election of the Speaker of the Assembly without additional support.

Albulena Haxhiu's candidacy for Speaker of the Assembly has been rejected for the fifth time in a row. She received 57 votes in favor from LVV and community representatives, 46 against from PDK, LDK and AAK, while three Nisma MPs abstained.

Efforts to resolve the political impasse will continue on Friday at 10:00, when the next constitutive session is expected to be held.
